How To Adjust Your Skincare Routine For Summer

It's about to get real hot and sticky up in here. Whether you're spending the summer by a pool in Malta, sight-seeing in Amsterdam, camping in the Lake District or sunbathing in your garden you need to adjust your summer skincare. I've compiled a list of tips and product recommendations for summer skin so you can enjoy the warmer weather whilst rocking healthy skin.

SPF

It goes without saying you need to wear sun protection in the summer. If you're not already layering under your usual moisturiser opt for a moisturiser which contains SPF. I'm using the Avene Light Hydrance Optimale* which has factor 20 protection. The light formula is perfect for summer when my skin is slightly oilier. 

Double face mask

SPF can clog pores so it's important to cleanse skin thoroughly. After double cleansing in the evening it's time to double face mask. start off by using a clay mask like the Good Things Five Minute Facial to draw out impurities. After rinsing off, follow with a hydrating mask like the No7 Beautiful Skin Hydration Mask for replenishment. I do this once a week in the summer. 

Matt Moisteriser

If your skin is getting oilier in the warmer months consider switching to a lighter, mattifying formula. The Witch Mattifying Moisturiser provides 24 hour hydration whilst keeping shine at bay. It also contains SPF 15 - yay!

Refreshing Mist

Facial mists are my weakness. All I want in life is to be sunbathing on a boat in St.Tropez with a lovely, bearded man by my side spraying my face with La Roche-Posay Thermale Spring Water on the hour,every hour. Back to reality - facial mists are great for refreshing and soothing summer skin. A few spritzes of this pre-moisturization and my skin is left balanced and hydrated.

Benefit Bo-ing Concealer Review

It's not often I splurge out on a highend product and when I do it's normally after wanting it for a year and reading 1000's of reviews. I'd read numourous good reviews of Boing concealer and i'm forever on the hunt for products to hide my hereditary dark circles so I decided to purchase this.

I like the simple, no fuss packaging. The solid concealer feels powdery at first but quickly warms up when using your fingers. I find this the best way to apply as it helps to blend. I've been trying this under my eyes and it does help to camouflage dark circles but not as much as I'd hoped. It's very similar to the Seventeen Phwoar Concealer which I normally use. I don't find this too cakey but it can tend to crease. The lightest shade (01) suits my skintone. I'd recommend this to those with minor dark circles and blemishes but avoid if you have dry skin and very dark circles!

For �17.50 you get 3g of product, which will last you a long time. Would I repurchasing again? No, I was kind of expecting it to be better for the price I paid. I'll be sticking to my highstreet duo of Seventeen Phwoar Paint and Collection Lasting Perfecion for now!

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation: Review + Free Sample

Rimmel are cranking out the new releases this Autumn/Winter. New Apocalips shades, Moisture Renew Lipsticks, Retro Glam Mascara and they've just announced Rita Ora will be collaborating with the brand soon. I'm still not sure whether i love or loathe Wake Me Up but I thought i'd give Rimmel's latest foundation offering a go. 

This is a liquid mousse so it has quite a thick texture but it still blends into the skin easily and doesn't feel cakey. I have the shade 'Ivory' which is the second lightest and is a tad too dark for my pale skin. As you can see from the swatch it has pink, almost grey undertones to it. I apply this with my RT flat foundation brush to get maximum coverage. This foundation leaves skin looking flawless and does a good job at covering redness and blemishes. I find i don't need to use concealer for my spots when i use this! I would describe the finish as velvety as it's not completely matte. 

Overall, great coverage, light-weight and affordable. For reference my skin type normal/combination. If you wanted a free sample of this, pick up this months copy of Boots free Health & Beauty magazine.

Revlon Nail Enamel in Bewitching �6.49 (LINK)
A truly bewitching nail polish. The classic dark red suits all skintones and glides on smoothly. I love wearing this on my toes in the colder months.
No7 Stay Perfect Nail Colour in Temptress �6.00 (LINK)
This is the prefect colour if your looking for a dark nail polish but don't want to go for black. The crimson red needs two coats and dries quickly. Ideal for channelling your inner goth!

Three Ways to Wear Blue Mascara

So blue mascara is nothing new; I bet your nan was rocking it way before your mum was born (mine still is). I understand if you're scared of trying it, when you think of blue mascara, stylish isn't the first word that comes to mind. But coloured mascara can be cool. Here are three different ways to wear blue mascara without looking too 80's. It's a great way to update your make up look if you're stuck in a rut.

1. If you want to try blue mascara but can't bare to part with your trusty black mascara, this look is perfect. Apply your favourite mascara to your top lashes then take the blue mascara and apply just to the bottom lashes. This makes brown/blues eyes really stand out.

2. Don't be scared, all over blue sounds so wrong but done right it looks so hot (cue Cara). To avoid looking too 80's don't wear matching blue eyeshadow. Instead go for a complimentary shade like copper. To keep the look simple add little or no eye liner and a light pink blush. Lip-wise opt for a berry hue with blue undertones to subtly compliment the mascara.

3. This last look is definitely the most wearable. Apply black mascara to the roots of your top lashes followed by placing blue mascara just on the tips for a dip-dyed effect. This is a really subtle take on blue mascara but still looks great. People will catch hints of blue every time you blink! Alternatively, put the blue mascara on your roots and black on the tips.

Autumn/Winter 2013 Makeup Trends: Eyeliner

So eyeliner is BIG this season and it's here to stay for S/S 2014. Make up artists at Anna Sui and Moschino got inventive with pencil and liquid liners by using them as eyeshadow to fill in the whole lid. If you wanted to try something that looked a little softer, at Michael Kors dramatic cat eyes were blended into sockets and paired with nude lips and sleek ponytails. Bored of black? Take inspiration from Dior who opted for silvery, ice blue winged eye liner. I love this trend as it suits all eye-shapes and looks great day or night! Whether you're going for subtle wisps or graphic blocks, here are some of my top eyeliner picks to get you ready to line___

A.K.A Cosmetics Eyeliner in Grey Blue �7 The small brush makes this really easy to get a precise line. The ' Grey Blue' shade makes a nice change from black eyeliner whilst still being really wearable. The staying power for this is great, but i do need to apply to coats two achieve a block colour.

Makeup Atelier Paris Cream Cake Liner �12.50* I found the best way to use this solid eyeliner is with a wet brush,. This glides on smoothly and dries quickly to leave an intense black line. 

Cargo Texas Liner �19.50*(with mascara) The first product I've tried from Cargo and i really like it! As you can tell from the photo's above it has quite a thick tip, making it perfect for re-creating the look at Anna Sui. 

Collection Extreme 24 hour felt tip liner �2.99 The nib has just the right amount of flex to it, not too hard that it's difficult to apply. The 24 hour claim is waaay too much. I'd say this lasts around 5 hours before needing to touch up. This also comes in purple,teal and blue if you're feeling creative! 

Eyeko Skinny Liner �10.00* My favourite liquid liner, ever! This lasts all day with no need for touch ups, leaves an intense colour and it super easy to use. Eyeko have recently launched some metallic shades to their collection if you wanted to get the Dior A/W '13 look! 

Collection Faststroke Waterproof Eyeliner �2.99 I needed a waterproof eyeliner so i thought i'd give this one a go. The formula to this is a lot more watery than any of the others mentioned above. I have to apply a few coats of this to reach full opaque-ness. This is very long-lasting but not that waterproof - sorry Collection!

1.Some might say this being my favourite shower gel is a bit biased as I love any vanilla scented products.I tweeted a picture about this here. It smells so good, on the back it says 'This is not Food' haha! It's reasonably priced, i like to stock up when it's on 3 for 2.

Kleenex Facial Cleansing Wipes �2.99 for 24

2. Kleenex have impressed me with there new cleansing range. I got my friend to try these wipes out because she's an official lover of face wipes. Her opinion was that these wipes were the best she'd ever tried! They are quite thick and quilted making them super soft and gentle. They are suitable for sensitive skin and remove all traces of make up.At the minute you can get 50p off the range with this coupon on their facebook page here. Always love a discount!  

John Frieda Perfect Ends Deep Infusion �6.99

3.I reviewed the John Frieda Full Repair Range in my last post here. I mentioned my favourite product was this, it's great for repairing my dry split ends. You only have to use it sparingly so this little bottle will go a long way.

Dr. Organic Manuka Honey Skin Lotion �7.19

4.Dr Organic is becoming one of my favourite brands. It's available from Holland & Barrett and they do so many nice products! This lotion smells lovely, it's doesn't feel greasy and really hydrates my skin. The brand doesn't test on animals and contains organic ingredients. 

Liz Earle Gentle Exfoliator �13.50

5.My love for Liz is always growing. Like so many others I am a big fan of the Cleanse and Polish. This exfoliator has been a nice addition to my skincare routine. I use it 1-2 times a week and it helps to brighten my skin and leaves it feeling fresh. It's quite gentle as the name suggests, but it still does a good job at removing dead skin cells. I'm always on the look at to try new Liz Earle products, do you have any recommendations? 

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in True Ivory �8.99

6.Possibly one of the most hyped about Rimmel foundations? I've seen countless reviews on this product - here are my thoughts! At first I wasn't impressed. I use my hands to apply it & felt let down by all the hype. The coverage was light and it didn't really seem anything special. I mentioned it on twitter & I had some replies saying i should apply it using a buffing brush. After giving this a go, the foundation definitely performed better. There was more coverage, it blended better and gave my skin a healthy glow. It does what it's suggest - wakes up the skin. I'll use this if my skin is looking a bit dull. I can't help but think Rimmel launched this at the wrong time. I think this would have been perfect for the winter months when my skin is noticeably drier and looking a bit dull. I still need concealer for my spots and dark circles however it does brighten them slightly. Not a bad foundation, would buy it again but i wouldn't go as far as saying it's the best highstreet foundation out there!

Kleenex eye make up removal wipes review

When I think of Kleenex i immediately think of tissues. But recently Kleenex have launch a new cleansing range. It includes shine absorbing sheets, facial wipes, facial cloths & these eye make up removal wipes. The only thing on my mind when a new product launches is - 'Is it any good?'

Well, I have been using these for a few weeks now to help remove my eye make up and they have been doing the job nicely! The wipes are quilted and contain natural fibres - they also say they're suitable for sensitive eyes and removing waterproof mascara. I haven't been able to test these out on any waterproof make up so can't comment on that however, i used some eye make up the other day & my eye got really itchy and a lump began to appear under my eye! I took a hayfever tablet and used one of these wipes to take the make up off & my eyes return to normal after half an hour.

These retail for �2.99 (24 in a pack) & are currently on offer for �1.99 in Superdrug. I think this is a decent price and would recommend these wipes. They remove my make up gently and don't irritate my eyes.

Rimmel 1000 kisses lip tint review and swatches

Lip tints. An alternative lip product which offers good coverage and long lasting ability. Revlon (7.99) were the first ones to release a lip pen followed by Max Factor (7.99) and now Rimmel (6.99). Rimmel's lasting finish lip tint's come in four different shades (watched below). I have 'Carry on Cherry' which is a deep cherry red colour. The pen applicator makes it easy to apply. It also comes with a lip balm - this is essential as I found not using this my lips felt really dry.

A downside to this product is that the lip balm doesn't twist, I think it would be better if it did as  you would get more product. Also, It would be nice to see a wider range of shades in the collection. Saying that, I have my eye on the pink and peach ones! 

Popped into Boots to check out the other three shades!

I would buy another lip tint and recommend it to others. The concept is great & perfect for lipstick wearers wanting a longer lasting finish. 

 

OVERALL

This product is great if your going out for a meal/drinks and don't want to worry about having to re-apply your lip product throughout the evening. Or, like the product suggests you plan on kissing 1000 times. I am yet to try out the latter, however, for review purposes, I am willing to test out this theory. Please let me know if you have a brother around my age. Thanks!

Not everyone seems to like January. I LOVE it. We started a new year, got some bargains in the sales,I celebrated my 18th birthday and my blog turned one! Here are a selection of beauty products I've enjoyed using this month.

Liz Earle Energising Body Lotion �17.00

When I first saw this i thought 'energising' was a weird verb for a moisturiser. It claims to firm and tone the skin whilst improving it's elasticity. It has improved the appearance of my skin, but It hasn't really toned it. I think this is more suited for older skin but it's a lovely light body lotion. 

Ahava Mineral Foot Cream �13.50

I like Ahava products, and my feet have been so dry lately. This product has been a life saver this month. 

Tanatomical 'because only bacon should be streaky' Natural Tanning Cream �6.50

Possibly the best fake tan name ever?! This is my new favourite fake tan, I've tested quite a lot of different brands out & currently in the middle of writing a mahoosive post on fake tan. This one smells really nice and more importantly looks natural! 

Lulu & Boo Organics Rosehip Face Lifting Serum (LINK!) �28.00

Lulu & Boo is an award-winning organic skincare company. I love using oils on my face, I have normal to combination skin. I've been trying this product for a while now and I really love it. It's quite expensive but it lasts ages, I've had it for a couple of months and don't think I've touched 1/4 of it yet? The packaging says use 6 drops, then massage it into your skin from the neck upwards. The scent is delicious, it kinda reminds me of liquorice. I do feel more relaxed when the oil is applied and my skin looks clearer and feels softer in the morning. This serum is 100% raw and orgainic, it's also suitable for vegans & vegarations - yay!

MAC Pro Longwear �22.50

I've had such a love hate realtionship with this foundation. It one of my first MAC purchases and I really wanted to get it right. When I first tried it, it left my skin feeling dry & looking matte; not happy as it was 22.50! But it's grown on me. The coverage is quite full but has a nice natural finish. Still not sure it's worth the price tag!

So...? Kiss me �1.79

Body Sprays are so handy for keeping in my handbag/locker. It's nice to freshen up throughout the day. This one from So...? Is an absolute bargain and smell delish. 

Nougat London Pampering Body Scrub �18.00*

Completely obsessed with Body Scrubs at the mo. I loved the Burt's Bees sugar scrub featured in my last favourites; but I'm the sort of person that doesn't often re purchase the same products again and again. I suffer from red patches on my upper arms, not sure what the technical name is for it but I know a lot of people have the same thing! Exfoliating a few times a week helps to keep the skin on my arms clear. I also use this on any dry bits like my elbows as it's really moisturising!

Lashaholic 07 �7.99

If i'm going out somewhere nice I like to pop on a pair of false eyelashes. It can be difficult finding a pair that suit your eye shape. At first I had trouble with getting this to look right, so I cut them in half and just used the outer corners. Helps to elongate eyes. These lashes are really light weight and 100% handmade.

I think you don't need to spend a lot of money to get a good nail varnish. OPI's prices are quite expensive, I would only buy one of their products if the nail varnish was a bit different & unusual. This limited edition one from the new Nicki Minaj collection is a beauty. Slightly reminds me of Rainbow connection. You can buy this online from Lena White for for �11. My Love for Burt

I'd never tried any Burts Bee's product before I was kindly sent these products for reviewing. As a beauty product lover, my favourite thing is to try out new brands and discover products that really work. But even more, I love sharing my experiences with you guys!

I was sent some skincare items from their 'Cotton Extract' Range. It is developed for people with sensitive skin. My skin type is normal to combination & I didn't know before hand what products I was going to try out - so I can't comment if these will irritate sensitive skin, sorry!

Sensitive Facial Cleanser �9.99

I don't know why, But I've always loved Burt's Bees packaging. I like the simplistic look of their Cotton Extract products. I think it would appeal to both men & women. This cleanser is to be used like a face wash. However it doesn't foam; instead it has a thick creamy formula and it's soap free. You apply it onto damp skin and massage it in until all traces of make up & dirt have been removed. After using a wet flannel to take off the cleanser my skin felt soft, clean and without any redness or irritation. It says it's fragrence free but there is a slight scent to it which I can't describe! Would you recommend? If your looking for a soap free cleanser, this may be the one for you! 

Daily Moisturizing Cream �14.99

Again, I really like the packaing & the way the product is dispensed. This is to be used in the morning after cleansing. The moisterizer is light but takes a while to absorb into the skin. Would you recommend? Well it keep my skin moisterized thoughtout the day!

Sensitive Night Cream �14.99

I'm a big fan of night creams, I feel they really work & improve the skin. This one from Burt's Bees is quite thin & leaves my skin feeling soft in the morning. it contains Rice Extract to moisturise and Aloe to soothe. I love the glass jar it comes in. Would you recoomend? Yes, I enjoy using this night cream but I personally would prefer it to be thicker.  

Sensitive Eye cream

The area around my eyes can get a bit sensitive at times. This eye cream has a nice creamy formula and hydrates the skin under my eyes. When i got this product into my eyes, it did sting a little! When applied it does feel really nice. Would I recommend? Well, it did sting my eyes which I didn't expect from a sensitive eye cream, so if your more careful then me you night like this.

Mango & Orange Body Butter �12.99

A body Butter is a lot richer then a body moisterizer. They are great for the winter months or if you suffer from dry skin. It contains mango butter and sweet orange oil making it smell delish. Would you reccomend? Yes, I am in LOVE with this body butter. It's my favourite product out of them all.

Frontcover AirKiss - 20 lipsticks for �20!

Feast your eyes on this beauty. Part of Frontcover's new Autumn Winter range. I was given this at their event which I blogged about here. I've never really owned many lipsticks, purely because I don't have the foggiest what to go for. But as soon as I saw this I knew I needed it in my life. With it comes; 20 mini lipsticks, nude lip liner,retractable lip brush and some hints & tips.


This is a must have product for all make up junkies, I love experimenting with all the colours!  Each one has a really nice creamy formula that lasts. The lip brush is okay but I think I'll save that for when the lipstick has nearly ran out & you try to get what's left out of the bottom. The nude lip liner is a bit dark for me,but it's a good product. The lipsticks also double up as cream blushers! I love the packaging and all the lipstick names too.

My current fav is 'Pink Papaya' lipstick on the bottom left. The kit has everything from bubblegum pink to vampy red. Will be showing swatches in upcoming posts. Cannot get over the price! This is avaiable from Boots & it's on the Christmas 3 for 2. Better whip out the advantage card before they all sell out.

Oooo have you seen that... new make up range at Tesco?

 I am the kind of daughter that hangs around the cosmetic isle's whilst her mum does the food shopping. So I was delighted to hear a new make up brand was going to launch at Tesco. VIVO has a whole range of products too tickle your fancy. Affordable and on-trend; this brand is definitely worth checking out on your next weekly shop. I was kindly sent some products to review,however my opinions are my own and as always, honest. 

Trio Eye shadow Palette �2.50

The pigmentation is quite good for it's price. They have a lovely range of colours & this neutral palette is my favourite. The double ended brush makes application easy. I used this to create a brown smoky eye & was happy with the end result! Will blog a picture soon ;)

Ultimate Base Concealer Kit �5

I love the highlighter that comes with this, will be using daily! For a review on this with some before and after pictures check out my previous post here. For a budget concealer this was okay, but I think I prefer the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection one. The highlighter is the highlight of this kit. 

Diamond Sparkle Lip Gloss �1.50

This come is a tube that you have to squeeze to get out product. It can get a little messy as you can see in the photograph! If you like lip glosses you will like this, the coverage is build-able and it leaves a nice sparkly sheen.

Overall, I like the wide range of products VIVO have. Although I haven't tried them I like the look of their baked eye shadows & blushers. They also do lipsticks for just �1.99! I'm always a bit vary of budget foundations, so I'm not sure if that would be a hit. But I am tempted to pop to Tesco to check out what other things they have to offer! What do you think of VIVO? x

hello september. Those lazy months of summer will soon feel like a distant memory as we cling onto the last few days of sunshine. Whether your heading back to school, college, uni or work here is something that might cheer you up. Original Konjac Sponge �5.25

Now, this first product is worth raving about. It is a face and body sponge that not only does wonders for your skin; it is biodegradable and 100% natural. Made from potato fibres, this sponge gently exfoliates,cleanses and softens my skin leaving a nice healthy glow. Very good value for money, and a real treat for you! You may not recognize this haircare brand but they have won numerous awards - rightly so! Because I dye my hair blonde it often looks dull, this product helps to condition and brighten my hair. It smells lovely too, with a blend of apricot and almond.I use this once a week ot when I want my hair to look it's best. View other products from their range here. 

Blink Eyebrow Grooming Gel �15.00

This coloured gel is great for filling in any gaps and doesn't leave your eyebrows feeling crusty! It also doubles up as a mascara - making the price not seem so bad. It is great for keeping my brows in place & I use it daily! Blink website here. 

Purity Facial Exfoliator �5.99

A really nice gentle exfoliator. It contains ground coconut shell to exfoliate as well as Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Glycerine and Aloe Vera. Leaves my skin conditioned & clear. I'll always use this before applying fake tan to my face. Purity products here.

L'Occitane Organic Lavender Body Lotion �18.00

You may already know this, but I'm a big fan of lavender scented beauty products. I apply this after a shower, the smell is so relaxing and it leaves my skin nice and soft. The non greasy formula absorbs quickly too. Check out their lovely website here.

SteamCream �10.50

I like my product packaging, and it doesn't get any better than this. This multi-purpose cream is handmade in England. The steam-infused process used to create the cream gives it it's unique name. The natural ingredients it contains inclulde; lavender oil, jojoba oil, cocoa butter and oatmeal infusion. Specially selected ingredients help to keep my skin hydrated and feeling soft. I LOVE the tin it comes in, I will be keeping it long after the cream has ran out! Check them out here. My favourite August Favourite! 

Bombshell Body Revealing Body Cleanser �12.75

I'm attending my friends birthday party this month and the dress I'm wearing shows of my back. Before I discovered this product, I had planned on using my normal face cleanser to keep my back looking clear! Second Blink product, this lash oil moisturises, strengthens and conditions my eyelashes. I really like the hard brush it comes with as it's easy to coat every lash. It also smells very nice! With hints of Apricot & jasmine. It is a little bit pricey, a cheaper alternative would be some good old vaseline.  

Lipcote Lipstick Sealer �3.45

If you wear lipstick, you need this in your life. Simples. This classic product has been going for 50 years & is just as strong today. Silly me forgot to illustrate this, but I love it & want to include it in my favs! I like my shower gels to smell amazing - and this does not dissappoint. With aromas like champaka and ylang ylang this luxourious product is very relaxing. I have to use this everytime I shower! More Sranron here.
