Rapid White Instant Whitening System review
Rapid White Instant Whitening System review
Rapid White Instant Whitening System review

I'm forever on the hunt for a at home teeth whitening kit that actually works. My teeth are naturally not very white despite not smoking or drinking coffee, what's all that about?

I've never tried dentist-level whitening (he told me not to) so I've had to put my faith in drugstore products. There is no shortage of teeth whitening products on the highstreet. I trialled the iWhite teeth whitening kit last year and also the Blanx White Shock toothpaste and now I'm back testing another teeth whitening kit in the hope for a whiter smile.

The Rapid White Instant Whitening System consist of 14 dissolving tooth whitening strips, a brush-on tooth gloss and an instant whitening toothpaste. Immediately, the tooth whitening strips appear to be UK's answer to the Crest Whitening Strips. The Crest strips aren't available in the UK because they have a higher % of Hydrogen Peroxide than what is legal in Britain and most of Europe. I've never tried the Crest strips myself because of this so I was really excited to see Rapid White were launching their own version that are safe to use in the UK.

The whitening kit is designed to be used over 7 days and claims to whiten teeth up to 4 shades. I have the Max Effect kit but they also make one specially for sensitive teeth. I used all 3 products in conjunction for one week and have mixed feeling about the product.

Tooth Dissolving Strips
The strips are transparent and flexible making them easy and simple to apply. Once stuck on your teeth they won't budge and you can talk easily with them on. I have a really small mouth so sometimes struggled to apply the strip without it sticking to my lips. I ended up cutting them in half before applying and that made it a lot easier for me (#smallmouthproblems). These claim to have a minty flavour but once they started to dissolve I had a horrible dentist-like taste in my mouth. You can avoid this by spitting out once the strips have dissolved. After leaving on for 7-10 minutes you rinse your mouth out with water a follow with brushing your teeth.

Instant Whitening Toothpaste
You use this toothpaste like you would with any other. This promises to instantly whiten teeth up to 1 and a 1/2 shades lighter after one use. The formula safely removes stains, plague and polishes the surface of the teeth. The toothpaste is also sold separately so I tested this out for one week prior to using the whole kit. After a couple of uses I started to notice little white specks on my teeth and noticed the looked a lot brighter. I love how fresh this left my mouth feeling. It has a blend of PVP and Pentasodium Triphosphate working together to remove stains and prevent tartar build up.

Brush-on Tooth Gloss
The only product I really didn't get on with. This gloss is designed to seal in shine. You brush it onto dry teeth which does leave them looking shiner however, I only used this twice as both times didn't go well. On the first occasion I used this in the morning after brushing my teeth. Later on in the day I went out for lunch and had a Coke and almost immediately I could feel the texture on my teeth had gone really rough where I had applied the gloss. When I got home I looked in the mirror to discover my teeth had been stained brown from the Coke. Luckily I only tried the gloss on my four front teeth so I could quickly scrap off any excess gloss. The second time I applied it at night. The following day I was at work and had a cup of tea and couldn't feel any difference in the texture this time. Nevertheless, when I checked on my teeth in the mirror they were stained with an unpleasant dark brown shade which I had to scrap off again.

Result
Apart from the brush-on gloss, this isn't a bad little kit. It's not going to leave you with computer-paper white teeth, it does only claim to brighten up to 4 shades. You will get a healthy white smile and teeth that look brighter then before. I doubt many of my friends and family would notice a difference in colour but they look whiter to me. Because I didn't get on well with the brush on gloss I wouldn't purchase the kit but I would buy the tooth whitening strips (22.99) and toothpaste ( 7.99) separately.

Did you know LUSH also do dental products, i didn't before i tried these! Toothy Tabs are basically
toothpaste in solid form. Sounds weird? Yep, it is.

The toothy tabs come in a box made from 100% recycled paper. As with all things LUSH, this is such an unique and innovative product! To use you simple place one between your front teeth and crush before brushing your teeth as normal. I've been using 'Atomic' which includes antiseptic ingredients such as clove and cinnamon.

The Results
I was sceptical at first whether these would clean my teeth as well as normal toothpaste would. I use an electric toothbrush and the Toothy Tabs foam up a lot more then i was expecting! The taste and chalky texture is something i've gotten use too and isn't unpleasant at all. After using these for nearly 4 weeks, they do clean my teeth as well as an ordinary toothpaste. I love that these are eco-friendly, cruelty-free and use essential oils. I'd never really given much thought of how many plastic toothpaste tubs i use, but it's something i'm going to try and cut down on in the future.

Atomic LUSH Toothy Tabs are 2.50 for 40 available from LUSH stores or online here.

If you read my recent iWhite teeth whitening kit review, you'll know i'm on the hunt for whiter teeth. Today i have another product which claims to help whiten teeth.

The BlanX White Shock toothpaste comes with the BlanX MicroWhite LED light. The toothpaste contains ActiluX which is a non-abrasive, peroxide free formula that reacts to light all day long. I love the idea that  the more your smile the whiter your teeth will get!

The coolest thing about this toothpaste is the LED light it comes with(and is the main reason i wanted to try it!). It fits onto the toothpaste tube so every time you use it, it lights up. The purpose of the light is to strengthen the ActiluX. BlanX say the more light the toothpaste receives the more whitening power it will have. The LED cap is reusable so when you've used up all the toothpaste you can hold onto and use it again. The toothpaste itself it quite normal. It's blue, has a minty taste and leaves my teeth feeling cleaner!

Results
After the first few uses i didn't really notice much difference in the whiteness of my teeth. However, after a week of using this my teeth were looking slightly whiter. After brushing my teeth i held the LED light to them for one minute twice a week. Now i've come to the end of the toothpaste i do think it works but not a great deal, i'd say they are one shade lighter. My teeth are slightly whiter and it didn't leave them feeling sensitive. If you wanted to give this a go don't expect too much, it's only a toothpaste! I'm undecided if i'd re-purchase this or check out a different one! You only get 50ml which is quite small for a toothpaste and it lasted me one month.

BlanX White Shock Toothpaste is available from Boots, RRP 7.49 currently on offer for 5.62

I like buying beauty products, it's a bit of an unhealthy addiction really. Most days i have a 'go hard or go home' approach to beauty - primer, foundation, highlighter, multiple concealers, two mascaras, blusher, bronzer oh and all the brushes! Sounds awful, but i weirdly look forward to doing my full routine! However some days beauty isn't fun and I just go back to basics.

Sometimes, beauty is boring. I don't buy deodorant based on it's fancy packaging, i buy it because i need to and probs wouldn't have any friend if i didn't. Toothpaste and mouthwash are monthly re-purchases for me but they don't get my heart racing like a new foundation (omg have you seen the new Bourjois Happy Light foundation?!). I wanted to share with you my beauty essentials - ok, so they aren't very exciting but these products DO work and i reach for them (nearly) every day.

Oral B Precision Clean Brush Heads x4
I invested in an electric toothbrush this year and i haven't looked back since. I much prefer using this now to manual brushes, these do make your teeth feel so much cleaner. I pick up my brush heads from Amazon as they are a lot cheaper online then in shops.
Revlon Quick Dry Base Coat
With a new colour on my nails each week they need protecting with a base coat to prevent staining. I picked up this one from Revlon recently because it dries quickly and has a nice thin brush.
Wilko Cotton Buds x 300
I've blogged about these before, 39p for 300 in the Wilkinson baby section - can't go wrong with that!
Listerine Stay White Mouthwash
I never really used to use mouthwash but i'm trying to up my teeth cleaning routine. Stay White from Listerine does what it says on the tin. My teeth get white spots on them after using this so it must be doing something!
Mitchum Advanced Control Roll-on
My current deodrant of choice which works fine for me. I have no favourite when it comes to anti-perpsriant, but i want to try the Sure one that you put on before bed next.
Boots Clean Off Nail Polish Remover
The.Best.Nail.Polish.Remover.Ever. Seriously, this stuff is good & it's so in-expensive.
Lidl Cotton Pads x120
I'm not fussy when it comes to cotton pads, i don't care if they are quilted, double faced or made from natural fibres hand-picked by fairies- i just use them to pour on toner so i don't want anything fancy. I have no idea if they are any better or worse than other brands but they do the job nicely.

What are your everyday essentials?

iWhite review
iwhite whitening kitiwhite
Like most people, i'd love to have whiter teeth. My dentist keeps putting me off getting my teeth professionaly whitened so i have been searching the high street for some home treatments. The newest offering which launched in Boots last month is the iWhite teeth whitening kit.

This kit is natural & hydrogen-peroxide free making it ideal for those with sensitive teeth. It comes with 10 pre-filled trays which are ready to use straight away. I much prefer this method to previous ones i have used in the past which require boiling and messing about with syringes. Unlike other whitening treatments, iWhite actually strengthens teeth because of the calcium technology it contains. The one size fits all tray fitted me perfectly however when my sister blogging assistant tested it out she said it was too small for her mouth. To use you just pop it in your mouth for 20 minutes and pray no one knocks on your front door.

iWhite claims this will whiten teeth up to eight shades. After using this for 5 days in a row as recommended for optimal results, my teeth did look whiter but not as much as i was expecting. I drink a lot of tea and my teeth are naturally a bit discoloured, iWhite left them looking one/two shades lighter after use. If you want that hollywood white smile this might not be for you. However, if you do normally suffer from sensitivity after using teeth whitening kits you may want to check this out. If you wanted to see some before & after pictures have a little look at Andy's review here.

Available at Boots

Would love to hear what are your favourite teeth whitening products!

'Say cheese!' I actually dread those two words. Pictures of me with my mouth open are extremely rare. Why I hear you ask, well we can't all have everything. And I don't like my smile. As a beauty product lover, I have tried and tested a whole range of products that claim to give me that 'Hollywood Smile'. I wanted to share my expereiences and show you the products that worked; and the ones that didn't.

Arm and Hammer Advanced Whitening 1.00 2.5/5
Really good value for money & I love the packaging of these products. The Toothpaste claims to turn teeth 3 shades whiter. Whilst this is very effective at cleaning my teeth and removing plague, I didn't notice a great difference in the colour of my teeth. Arm and Hammer web site here.

Beverly Hills Sensitive Whitening 2.99 2/5
'Whiter teeth in just 1 minute'. I had high exceptions for this product, & it took me ages to find a Superdrug that stocked it. After reading lots of good reviews on this, it didn't live up. I had to cover my teeth in the paste & leave it on for 1 minute. Unfortunately I didn't notice a difference. When I had finished the product my teeth were only slightly whiter. More Beverly Hills here.

Pearl Drops Hollywood Smile 5.10 3/5
This is the one I am currently using. It guarantees to whiten your teeth in just 3 weeks. It also comes with a 'teeth colour guide' allowing you to monitor the progress. After 3 weeks of use, my teeth were slightly whiter. I was disappointed with the results. However, once switching from a manual brush to an electric brush - It all changed...
Pearl Drop site here!

Arm and Hammer Sonic Spinbrush 12.99 5/5
Unlike most electric toothbrushes, instead of rotating this one vibrates. Ever since using this with my Pearl Drops toothpaste I have noticed my teeth look a lot whiter and feel cleaner. I had been using manual toothbrushes for a while & thought they were doing the job just fine. After just one use of this I Instantly noticed a difference in the way my teeth felt & looked. It has also helped to get the most from my toothpaste. I really wish I had this when I was using the Arm & Hammer Whitening toothpaste as it would had probably improved the results. If you are going to splurge on a toothpaste it's just as important to have a good toothbrush. I would definatley recommend this one. Available from Superdrug, Boots & some supermarkets.

Even if you don't like you teeth, it's always important to
Smile!
