Brace your tanned toes and fingers, now the sunshine has made an appearance you can't just paint on any shade. You'll want to make the most of your sun kissed glow by enchancing it with colours that will maximise your tan. If you follow me on Instagram you'll know I went on holiday last week for some much needed sunshine. I posted this photo of my holiday nails and that shade made my hands look so much more tanned!

White nails are really popular this Spring/Summer. It's one on my favourite shades to wear and looks amazing with a tan. If you're afraid it'll look like you've painted your nails with Typex opt for an affordable brand like Natural Collection so you haven't wasted a lot of money if you don't like the trend. This is a three-coater but the finish is so worth it. Shades such as orange and yellow are perfect summer colours. Bright yellow nail varnish instantly makes me feel happy, anyone else get that? Aqua blue looks so good on tanned toes. Complimenting blue on toes with coral on fingers is a match made in heaven. The pinked-up creamly coral shade from LOLA pictured above is divine, I think I've found my summer nail jam. Pastel colours aren't usually paired with dark skin but pale lilac looks incredible, one for those not a fan of bold nails.

It seems summer has finally arrived, well on my nails at least. What is your go-to shade when your skin's got a little tan?

I'm loving all the beauty trends this Spring/Summer. Orange lips, white nails, bold brows and now everything blue. The trend is often associated with the 80's and back then, it wasn't a great look. Fast forward a few decades and the look has taken on a new, modern twist. To update the trend for 2014 keep the rest of your make up super simple.

If you're not keen on rocking blue eyeshadow like they did on the Marc Jacob catwalk opt for navy blue eyeliner or apply blue mascara to the tips of your lashes for a much more subtle take on the trend. Avoid a make up colour clash by leaving your lipstick at home and going easy on the blush.  Don't want to try blue make up? Why not go for blue nails. My current favourites include Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in 'Huckleberry' and L'oreal Colour Riche in 'Nouvelle Vogue' which are both lovely pale shades perfect for spring.

Will you be rocking the blue make up trend this summer? Are you brave enough to try blue eyeshadow or will you be sticking to blue nails?

Orange lips are usually popular for summer but it seems this year the trend is even BIGGER. Last summer was all about orange nails now it's turn for your lips. What I love about this particular trend is that it really does suit all skintones. Donna Karen's runway rocked a juicy tangerine, Galliano went for a matte red-orange and Peter Pilotto had his models wearing a subtle, washed out shade. Whether you're feeling bold or still on the fence about orange lips, I've got something for you.

Go hard or go home with this gorgeous shade from Rimmel's Moisture Renew range. 'In love with ginger' (pictured above) is a bright, creamy orange-y red which instantly brightens up your face. The formula for this is really smooth and hydrating so perfect if you're prone to dry lips like me. Another bold orange shade I'm loving lately comes from M&S make up brand LOLA. Their new collection of liquid lipsticks have caught my eye. The intense, full coverage formulas aren't for the faint-hearted. The pen applicator makes this lipstick easy to apply. Although this is very creamy and has a semi-matte finish, I'd suggest making sure your lips were in perfect condition before applying. That means a scrub and intensive moisturiser beforehand to avoid the lipstick going patchy. You can see what the shade 'Tangerine' looks like on me here

First timers who aren't to sure about this trend opt for a subtle balm or lipgloss for a little tint. This is a great way to break into the trend. Bourjois lip glosses are easily available at Boots and Superdrug and come in lots of different shades. My top spring shades in the 3D Effect Lip Glosses are 'Coral Idyllic' and 'Orange Juteuse'. Another good option if you're not a fan of gloss are lip pen balms. A lot brands have jumped on this bandwagon such as Rimmel, Seventeen and Max Factor but I still love the Revlon Kissable Balm Stains. The shade pictured above is called 'Rendezvous' and gives lips a gorgeous orange sheen. The minty scent is a pleasant plus and the smooth formula is very hydrating.

Will you be wearing orange lips this summer?

One thing that shouts autumn make up is red-wine stained lipstick. Check out my post from yesterday for my top berry lipstick picks! If you wanted to try a modern take on the trend this season, why not go for ombre lips? I first saw this look stamped onto lips at Kenneth Cole a/w '13. I love how easy this is to re-create. I wrote about this look in September's issue of Pure Beauty magazine (eekk!). I've added a photograph of my mini interview below so you can give this trend a go. I used Rimmel Kate Matte in 107 for the darker shade and Natural Collection in Crimson for the lighter lipstick.

What do you think of berry ombre lips? Will you be giving this look a try for Autumn?

Wine-hued, dark lipstick is nothing new for Autumn but this season it's back with new textures, finishes and formulas. In some cases, such as at Byblos, lips were precisely painted in a deep plum shade whilst eye make up was kept nude. At Prada a purple lip stain was softly dabbed onto lips to create a wearable, effortless look. I love this trend because it suits all different skin tones. If you're not brave enough to try dark lipstick a good place to start is with a gloss or balm. Purple toned lipstick can be a toughie to pull off , but lightly applied with fingers they become a whole lot more wearable. I've chosen six berry-beautiful shades to help you decide what lipstick you'll be rocking this A/W.
You''l notice that all the lipsticks mentioned are from the highstreet. I think highstreet brands are extremely good when it comes to creating high quality, on-trend products at affordable prices, giving highend brands a run for there money. Did you hear Mac have increased the price of their lipsticks AGAIN? Think i'll be sticking to good old drugstore makeup!

Rimmel Kate Matte '107' (5.49) This was my first dark lipstick purchase. After seeing so many bloggers look great in this i plucked up the courage and haven't looked back since. The formula is matte so it can be quite drying. I use my Lush lip scrub before applying this and finish with a layer of lip balm.
Revlon ColourStay Ultimate Suede '035 Backstage' (8.99) The newest edition to my plumy lipstick collection. These aren't as nourishing as the Revlon Lip Butter, but they do last longer. 'Backstage' is an intense blackcurrent red. When you first apply this it does feel a little sticky but after 20 minutes it dries to a suede finish. The 16 hour claim is a bit far-fetched, around 5 hours before needing to re-apply isn't bad!
Collection Volume Sensation '4 Plum Perfection' (2.99) In the tube this looks like a frosty finish, however once applied to the lips it has a creamy effect. This applies really smoothly and has great colour pay-off. Perfect if you want to try the berry trend on a budget.
PUR Minerlas Lipgloss Sticks 'Berry Pretty'* (16.00) These lipgloss sticks are ridiculously easy to apply, no mirror necessary for application. They provide a moisturising splash of colour. As you can see from the swatch above it leaves a subtle berry tint and they apply super smoothly. The vitamin E and natural oils help to hydrate lips too. These are quite pricey at 16.00 a pop but they are paraben free, don't test on animals and contain no nasties. Available from Marks & Spencer here
L'oreal Colour Riche '325 Feeric Fushia' (8.19) This glides on smoothly and has a rich, shiny formula. The shade is a dark red with purple undertones and subtle flecks of shimmer. Looking at this against the other lipsticks, the packaging looks really expensive!
Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stain '005 Crush' (7.99) A nourishing balm with a hint of stain is probably the best way to describe these. There's a lot of comparisons to the Clinique chubby sticks but i've never tried them. I have the shade 'Crush' which is a black cherry colour. I love that this applies sheer but can be built up for a more intense colour.

Hopefully this has given you some vampy lipstick inspiration, next week there will be an a/w lipstick tutorial :) I'll also be posting a lot more Autumn 2013 beauty trends! What are your favourite berry shades?

If the 'mannequin manicure' s/s 2013 nail trend isn't for you, then you'll be happy to hear orange nails are the shade of the season. Hot orange nails scream pool parties, beach sunsets, BBQ's, hot nights, pina coladas and look great against tanned skin. This summer, beauty brands from Collection to Essie have launched an array of oranges to a-peel(sorry) to your tastes!

(L-R)George Quick Dry Nail Varnish in 'Sunset Orange'. Orange doesn't have to be  scary, if you prefer your nails to look more subtle opt for a pastel orange like this one from Asda, they have a great range of shades & don't cost the earth. Revlon 'Make Mine Mango' is a similar light shade.
MyFace Lil Bling Polish in 'Tequila Sunrise' -if you fancy something a bit different why not try a metallic orange?  Opi Goin' Ape-ricot is another metallic orange you should check out.
Next, a classic orange from Rimmel in 'Tangerine Queen'. Wear this one on your fingernails to enchance your tan! Nails Inc Porchester Place is another great zesty polish.
If you remember last year, ELLE were giving away free Mavala nail varnishes & this is one of them. This creamy red-orange shade looks great emblazoned on nails, i'll be wearing it on my toes all summer! I've heard so many good things about the Barry M Summer Gelly paints; 'Passionfruit' is a good dupe if you don't have the ELLE polish.
Max Factor Mini nail polish in 'Deep Coral'   is a fire-bright red orange which looks even better with matching lipstick. Essie 'Sunday Funday' is described as a 'Tangerine coral crush shimmer' & looks really similar to the Max Factor shade! Out of the five above, i think the last two creamy red-orange shades are my favourites!

Will you be wearing the zesty orange nail trend this summer? What sandal-worthy nail varnish will you be going for? :) x

A new season is always bad news for our banks. New product launches reflect's what looks have been created on the catwalk and every brand brings out new, exciting products to tempt us with. I love seeing what trends come out as it gives me new looks to try out!
This Spring/Summer is all about the 'Mannequin  Manicure'. To create this look you'll need a flesh toned polish that is similar to the undertones in your skin so your nails blend with your skin creating that shop dummy look. This trend makes your nails look really elegant and it's great if you've got short fingers as it elongates them!

But Ultimately, a trend is;n. tendency, a current style or fashion and you don't have to follow them. Wear what makes you feel good regardless of what magazines, brands, celebrities are saying. I will be adapting this trend to suit me as pale nude varnishes can make my already pale hands look a bit dead. I'll warm my skintone up by wearing corally nude shades, 'trendadapting' if you will.(i just made that word up)

Above: No7 So simple, Mavala Vanilla(wearing), No7 Practically Perfect.

Will you be going nude on your nails?

*You'll probably know if you follow me on twitter I've been away this week in Paris - it was so much fun! I went away with college for four days and got back this Thursday. I managed to climb to the top of the effiel tower, mobbed cara delevingne, saw the mona lisa, spotted kate moss at Louis Vuitton, meet some nice french soliders, went on a ghost tour, visited Disneyland and ate too many pain au chocolates. It was my first time in Paris & I would really recommend it. Let me know if you want me to post my holiday photo's on here, i don't know if thats weird or not! I've already posted a few here on twitter. Have a good week :)*

Does anyone else wish eyebrows didn't need plucking? It's one of those things I don't look forward to but I
guess you have to if you don't want one eyebrow. Bold brows are BIG this season(literately), they dominated S/S '12 catwalks and looks like they are here to stay this winter and also Spring next year! Models at NYFW such as Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs and Jason Wu were all sporting big bushy brows. I'm kind of glad about this as it means we can step away from tweezers/wax/threading for a bit whilst out brows grow out!

My go to brow kit lately has been this beauty from Japonesque. The contents come nicely packed in a little pink case which is handy  for travelling. My favourite item from the set has to be the brow powders. I've always used a brow pencil but since discovering this kit i much prefer powders. The palette comes with two mini brushes, i normally wouldn't use brushes which come free with products but the quality of these are excellent. I like the little stencils that come with the kit, yet to try them out! The clear gel is very handy as my eyebrows never seem to stay in place.

The Japonesque brow kit retails for 21.00 and 1 is donated to Breast Cancer Awareness Research. Available from HQ Hair website.

Will you be trying the bold brow trend? What are your favourite brow products?

Barbecues, wide-open windows, sandy feet, ipods, straw hats, sun cream, festivals, hand fans, warm scents, bumble bees, late nights.
We are having none of that here in the UK; the weather has been rubbish recently. I just want some sunshine! Bright bold nails make me happy, and they are a big trend for this summer. I was browsing through my nail varnish collection to see what bright products I had. I found eight nail varnishes to give you some inspiration on what colours to go for!
Are you brave enough to have daring neon nails? I think these are a great way to brighten up your summer especially when the weather is like this! Some brands that have bold colours in their range include - Miss Sporty, Models Own, Essie, OPI and Collection 2000. Also, if your in need of some ideas on how to store your nail varnish just check out this post :) Now...what colour to paint my nails?

Topshop are well known for setting trends. I saw quite a few 'Dalmatian Nails' on blogs a couple of months ago. Where did they copy the look from?  Of course your right, it was Topshop. The newest nail look is hieroglyphic nails as seen on their S/S12 fashion show. I reckon it's gonna be BIG next year. Impress all your friends with this trend first. As you can see from the first photo, I'm still practising!
